"No," Rei said, shaking her head. "I have to stay and look after Lucian."

Nancy wondered if anything would be made about the decision to leave her son in the girl's care. Admitably it wasn't the wisest thing she had ever done, but she had scarce little option, and she trusted Rei, she was responsible. Besides, Lucian liked her, and as she knew when one time a rapist went after him to get at her, Rei was protective of him. She would look after her boy well, Nancy was sure. "Okay," she said finally, nodding to Rei before turning her attention to Rose. "Let's go." She tilted her head towards the door and proceeded outside, clearly eager to leave.

"Shouldn't Jun be a part of this as well?" Travis asked, referring to the meeting over what was found in Antarctica and what to do about Rei.

"Maybe she should be," Jill agreed. "Her files are there, and we can leave her to tend to what she needs to."

"Running down animal smugglers and the like. That's probably a good thing." He thought about that for a moment and wondered if he might have been better chasing a quieter life back in Japan. He would have been safer, that was for certain. Happier as well, maybe. He found that he was so caught up in it that he didn't notice when they had come to a stop, and it was only when Jill tried to get his attention that he snapped back to reality. "

Travis, get with the program," she told him.

Travis shook his head and looked at her. "Uh, sorry. Just thinking."

"It's okay," Jill relented, "but I need you here, not a thousand miles away."

Travis didn't mention that he might have preferred to have been, and resigned himself to the task ahead.

Church was over and Adam Kasugano decided to hang around, catching up with people he knew and meeting those that he didn't. Yet there was one person he was looking for in particular. "That's odd." He went to one of the church leaders who would probably know. "Hey, you haven't seen Sofia by any chance have you?" The leader shook his head and explained that she hadn't been seen all night. The news made Adam think: Sofia hardly ever missed church, and when she did she always let people know in advance. He'd asked about it after not seeing her before, but seeing as how she was clearly absent and no one knew where she was he pondered what might have happened. It was probably nothing to do with him, but just the same Adam wanted to catch up with her. Since that didn't seem to be an option, he chose to make his way home. There were about a gazillion other things he could get up to...karate, writing, politics, all manner of activities to occupy his time. That all changed however when he went past a corner store and he heard the television blaring from inside. "Holy shit," he breathed when he heard about what happened in Mexico. He'd obviously missed it until now, and didn't know what he should do. Dare he let everyone else know about it? Was it better to learn more? He didn't know, but with barely a look towards the heavens he knew he had to do something.
