"Yeah," Nancy said, sounding as though she didn't particularly enjoy it. "So it's over." She dialed a number to get in touch with one of her students. "Jessie, did you deliver those tapes already? You did? Right, okay, I'll let them know...never mind, you coming back here? Good, I'll see you then." Nancy turned to Rose. "Are you squemish? We'd better head out there and look to make sure."

Travis had been discussing with the STARS about going after Interpol, certain they were behind the nuclear attack, until Jill piped in with what she heard. "They're dead," she informed Travis. "Marines took them out just now."

"Did they?" Travis thought for a moment. "You sure?"

"They're going over the bodies now. Some are missing, but they are certain the renegades are finished." Travis nodded soberly. "Seems familiar." Before he could be asked if he was referring to what the STARS went through, he said, "Guess that means we're heading for Japan after all." Not having to worry about Interpol was good. There was still Rei to deal with.

"That woman you live with," Reiko asked, trying to be civil for Rei's sake, "ah, what the fuck is her name?"

"Nancy." Rei was trying her best to hide how impatient she was.

"Right, Nancy. Can we expect any help from her?"

"She does not know." Rei thought, wondering about whether or not to confide to her sister. "I am afraid of how she might react if she was to know the truth?"

"Right," Reiko said, nodding in agreement, "that's probably for the best that she does not know. But that means we only have each other to depend upon." Rei was taken aback by the change in attitude, right now Reiko was very serious about the topic. "Can you do that Rei?"
